The National Weather Service has issued and then cancelled a severe thunderstorm watch for various counties in Texas. The watch was initially in effect for all counties in the region, but has now been lifted for most areas except those along the coast.

As of Friday evening, the severe thunderstorm watch remains active for Jackson, Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Matagorda, and Galveston Bay. These areas are advised to stay alert and take precautions as the severe weather conditions continue.

After a night of storms, the watch has been cancelled for several counties including Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Fort Bend, Grimes, Harris, Houston, Liberty, Madison, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton. Residents in these areas can breathe a sigh of relief as the threat of severe thunderstorms has passed.
