FOX 26 Houston welcomes DaLaun Dillard as new morning anchor
FOX 26 Houston has announced that DaLaun Dillard will be joining the team as the new morning anchor for Houston’s Morning Show. Dillard will be taking over the role left behind by TV news veteran Jose Griñan, who recently departed from the station.
Dillard, who previously served as a weekday evening anchor at WEWS-TV in Cleveland, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to help Houstonians start their day. “I am passionate about serving my local community so I cannot wait to get involved in this city that I already love, rich in culture, diversity, and delicious food,” Dillard said in a statement.
The new morning anchor also took to social media to share his excitement about his new role. “Houston, I’m so excited to join the incredible morning team at FOX 26 Houston and wake up with you every weekday,” Dillard wrote on his Facebook page.
Before joining FOX 26, Dillard also worked as an anchor at KETV in Omaha, Neb and served as a reporter/anchor for Nextstar’s WMBD in Peoria, Ill. A graduate of Central Michigan University, Dillard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Broadcast/Cinema Arts. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The 100 Black Men of America, and The National Association of Black Journalists.
Aaron Fernandez-Wische, FOX 26’s VP of Content and Distribution, expressed his excitement for Dillard’s addition to the morning show team. “DaLaun is committed to reporting on a community’s challenges and triumphs,” Fernandez-Wische said in a statement. “He’s personable, engaging and a great fit for ‘Houston’s Morning Show.’ We’re excited for Houstonians to welcome DaLaun as part of their busy morning routines.”
Dillard will be co-anchoring Houston’s Morning Show alongside Melissa Wilson from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. as of December. With his experience and passion for local news, Dillard is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the morning show and engage with the Houston community.
