Four months after a fatal ambush outside a northwest Houston hotel, authorities are still searching for two suspects in connection with the crime. The Houston Police Department is on the lookout for 18-year-old Joseph Refugio Ramos and 17-year-old Izavian Bell, both of whom are wanted for murder in the death of 26-year-old Dominique Rice.
The shooting took place on Nov. 12, 2023, when Rice was walking with a woman back to their hotel on West 34th Street in the early hours of the morning. A dark sedan pulled up to them, and a group of armed men wearing ski masks confronted Rice. He was shot multiple times and died at the scene, while the woman managed to escape unharmed.
Ramos was charged for his involvement in the shooting back in January, and just recently, a murder charge was filed against Bell, who is believed to have pulled the trigger. According to charging documents, Rice’s killing was a retaliatory act for a previous crime committed hours before the murder.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Bell, Ramos, or any other suspects involved in the case to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at (713) 308-3600.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of coming forward and providing information to law enforcement in order to bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice. The community’s cooperation is crucial in solving cases like these and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
As the investigation continues, the Houston Police Department remains committed to pursuing justice for Dominique Rice and holding those responsible for his untimely death accountable. Let us stand together in support of the authorities’ efforts to bring closure to this heartbreaking chapter for Rice’s loved ones and the entire community.
