Houston police are on the lookout for Luis Gerardo Rios, the man accused of shooting four people outside a club earlier this month. The incident occurred on March 2 on Washington Avenue between Reinerman Street and Sandman Street.
According to reports, Rios was asked to leave the club by security after getting into a fight. He then proceeded to get into a black Chevrolet SUV and began shooting at people outside the club, including security officers. Fortunately, all four individuals who were shot survived the ordeal.
HPD Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin expressed his concern over the reckless behavior exhibited by Rios, stating, “The fact that they would shoot indiscriminately at a club crowded with people just because they were asked to leave, whether they were intoxicated or whatever, shows that they really have very little regard for the safety of the people around them.”
Despite the efforts of the off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies and security officers to control the situation, Rios managed to evade arrest. After further investigation and witness interviews, HPD identified Rios as the perpetrator but have yet to apprehend him.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Rios or the case to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining safety and security in public spaces, and the need for individuals to act responsibly and peacefully in social environments. Hopefully, with the cooperation of the community, Rios will be brought to justice for his alleged crimes.
