A tragic incident occurred in Harris County, Texas, where a toddler lost her life after being hit by an Uber driver. The driver was dropping off a family, which included three adults, a child, and the now-deceased toddler, at the Greenbriar on the Bayou Apartments on Waverly Drive near Greens Road.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the driver did not realize the toddler was in front of the vehicle when he drove forward, resulting in the tragic accident. The toddler was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

Witnesses to the horrific scene, including a neighbor who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the chaos and rush to aid the young girl. The neighbor expressed their shock and dismay at the situation, stating, “I tried to save her, but I hate she’s gone, man.” The little girl was just a few months away from celebrating her 2nd birthday, adding to the heartbreaking nature of the incident.

After the accident, family members of the toddler reportedly pulled the driver out of the vehicle and began to assault him, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being alert and cautious, especially when in the presence of young children.

Lt. K. Benoit from the sheriff’s office’s vehicular crimes division emphasized the need for heightened vigilance when in the vicinity of children. He stressed the importance of holding their hands, guiding them to safety, and closely monitoring their surroundings, especially when vehicles are involved.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no arrests made at this time. It is too early to determine if charges will be filed against the driver. The community mourns the loss of the young girl and hopes that this tragic event will serve as a reminder of the fragility of life and the need for increased caution in similar situations.

As the community comes to terms with this heartbreaking loss, authorities urge everyone to exercise utmost care and attention when in the vicinity of children to prevent such devastating accidents from occurring in the future.
