**Active Shooter Incident at Jacksonville Beach Leaves Two Injured**
Police were seen in the area of 2nd Avenue’s beach access Sunday and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) is reporting two people were transported to the hospital. According to responding agencies, there was an active shooter incident in Jacksonville Beach that resulted in two individuals being taken to the hospital.
Jacksonville Beach Police Department spokeswoman Tonya Tator urged residents to stay away from the scene and described the incident around 8:30 p.m. as an “active shooter event.” Tator stated that three people had been shot in the incident.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is currently securing the scene. Cameras showed a heavy police presence near the 2nd Avenue beach access and 1st Street. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that two people were taken to the hospital as a result of the shooting. One person is in serious condition while the other person’s injuries are reported as non life-threatening.
